My name is Jim Williams and I live on the doorstep to the Rockies, in Chestermere, Alberta. My website includes part of my collection of airbrush illustrations of various cars that I have found over the years, with many more to come. As a young boy growing up in a small town on the prairies, Kerrobert Saskatchewan, who knew that one day I would be able to combine my love of cars and art together on these pages for other people to see and enjoy.
My art and my extreme interest in cars collided at a young age. I should apologize to my school teachers for all the drawings in my notebooks and to my parents for putting up with my obsession for owning every model car I could afford to buy, and to my wonderful wife who I took down every back road in Saskatchewan trying to search out another old car. But early images like the first time I saw a superbird on main street or the local kid who came home from Edmonton one weekend with a Hemi ‘Cuda convertible stirred something in me, I just plain loved drawing those cars.
I went to the Alberta college of art in Calgary, it was there that I discovered what I could do with an airbrush, I painted on everything that moved, bikes, vans, cars, even buildings, nothing was safe from my Frank Frazzetta influenced artwork. As the van craze died and my reactions to automotive paint products became more severe I decided to get into the auto business. With less time to paint and more time needed to take care of my young family I still did the occasional commission piece on request. Even though I have owned and restored some great cars, painting pictures of them is what I love to do the best.
I knew that I still needed a better way to market my work to a bigger audience and with the Internet that is all possible. My kids have grown up now and my passion for painting is stronger than ever.
I hope you enjoy my work.
